successful program to date—we created a teen advisory body, the Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council, affectionately known as WACTAC. FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH ASSEMBLY PARTS (OR GETTING THE SUPPORT YOU NEED).

WACTAC members are 10th-12th graders from neighborhoods and high colleges all over the Twin Cities metro area. WHY? Teens learn about working at a museum, connect with contemporary art and artists, and create ways for the Twin Cities teen community to experience the Walker.

In the past, WACTAC has developed exhibitions and events to showcase teen artists, invited resident artists to give talks or classes, developed marketing materials and strategies, written and published original work for print and the Web, planned regional film festivals, and partnered with local groups to present programs throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul.

As older members leave, the teens choose new members from an increasing number of applicants, striving to maintain diversity within race, ethnicity, interests, skills, age, and colleges, as well as the WACTAC’s identity as an independent, cutting-edge entity.
